Product Description

The Country Gentleman boasts a barrel bowl with a smooth black and natural look. This fairly large pipes houses a generous chamber, filled with a hardwood plug at the base. The curved black stem houses an optional 6mm (included), but can also be used without the filter. A very popular shape in the Missouri Meerschaum range.

Corn cobs have a slightly bad reputation, they are seen as the disposable pipe. A cheap alternative to briar and therefore inferior too, but thats not fair at all. The Missouri Meerschaum pipes are made by hand, using specifically bread corn. The porous husk allows for a dryer smoke, absorbing the moisture and like Clay & Meerschaum smokes very cool. Unlike Briar and other wooden pipes, a carbon cake is not required. The first few smokes have a sweet, nutty taste but after that the pipe holds no background flavours and always gives a pure taste to the tobacco. Many blenders (our self's included) use Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob pipes to sample blends, for the neutral taste.

  1. If your not smoking a cob you have no idea what your missing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Sep 2015

Now rotating through my cobs and this is a Maid of all work. I use a briar occasionally, but this is in my honest opinion better! This style is solid and light it takes a nice amount of baccy and has no trouble with flakes or plugs, which depends on how you prefer it. I am a roll and stuff with flakes, but with plugs I shave off little flakes with my Opinel knife. This pipe was not my choice it was gifted to me through GQ. What a great choice comfortable to hold and definitely a pipe for a two pipe full contemplation. I believe if you want a good pipe that does all you ask then get one. My view is cobs do what it says on the tin. My partner calls them little Cobbies disparingly. One thing I can say is there ain't no cobblers about them. Get one and rest your briars.

  2. A Cool Sweet Smoke 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Sep 2015

Has the feel of solid quality, much more comfortable to hold in the hand or mouth than some more expensive pipes I have come across in the last 40 odd years. It is cool and sweet to smoke and is not to hot in the hand. I am at a fork in the road more cobs or back to briars? I think it's going to be more cobs these are built like the USS Missouri battleship! If you haven't tried one, be bold buy one and you may never go back. Beware they creep up on you and my next will be a Freehand.

  3. I've seen the light 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jun 2015

I tended to avoid cobs, thinking them to be disspossable pipes, OK for a few smokes but thing more. However I was given two old MM Cobs and I was astonded at how well they smoked and more to the point how comfortable they were in my mouth. I started looking into the brand and discovered that they can be used for many years, indeed the bowl of the Country Gentleman cob feels as hard and long lasting as Briar. I've become a convert to cobs and have recently bought several - Patriot, Country Gent, Shire and a Mark Twain. These really are great pipes. Had I discovered cobs earlier I don't think I would have spent so much money on more expensive briar pipes. I alos love the rustic, down home look of the pipes.

  4. Excellent budget pipe 5 Star Review

A very nice pipe; good weight, nice sized bowl and a good draw.
I filled mine with Top Black Cherry and it packed well, lit well and stayed lit without effort.
The stem is pleasant, soft in the teeth but durable.

I like this pipe and Im sure it's going to be an instant favourite for as long as it lasts. For the price, cant be neatb
