For years we have been asking both Gawith Hoggarth and Samuel Gawith if they can make up a twist (sliced or on the roll) like this. So when we first saw Cabbies Mix at the Dortmund show in 2015, we did a little dance of joy and then when we tried it, we ran round like kids on Christmas morning.
Cabbies Mixture is a Virginia and Perique twist, which is hand rolled and hand sliced. As you would expect from Samuel Gawith the tobacco is of the highest quality and this can be seen, smelt and felt in the tin. Of course it’s the smoking which counts and Cabbies certainly ticks all of our boxes. A sweet and natural Virginia taste takes centre seat when lit, with the pepper and spice of the Perqiue working its way in. An easy smoke, which packs enough Nicotine for most smokers, while not being over powering.

One of my favourite Virginia Periques out there

An absolutely superb tobacco. Although my first bowlful didn't appear to make much impact, the second and subsequent bowls have confirmed that this is a tobacco in a class of its own. Perhaps, as someone has stated elsewhere to me, the tobacco needs to stand a little after opening. Be that as it may, latter bowls have been sublimely smooth, tasty and refreshingly good enough to make this a must in future considerations. Wonderful tin aroma, great looking appearance, beautiful to touch and feel when packing. Lights very well and maintains burning for a good while. Smooth, cool smoke with the sweetness of Virginias right out on top with a hint of the Perique just adding that extra little zing and edge. A subtle blend that makes for a perfect daily bowl or two, or three...Recommended.

Well! it sometimes happens that a tobacco really hits the spot on the first smoke and Cabbies certainly does that. Beautiful sweet Virginia and a little Perique spice to make it even more interesting. Loaded a pipe in old three nuns style with the discs intact, it burns cool and sweet all the way down without any hint of bite. All in all a wonderful tobacco which I will be adding to my cellar in some quantity. Thanks Sam Gawith.

On first smoke I simply popped the tpbacco into the bowl without rubbing out, and it too awhile to get alight but when I got it going - WOW! The sweetness of the virginia is foremost in the mix but the tange of the perique is evident throughout. It's also got quite a nicotine hit and after two consecutive bowls I was jumping about like a flea in a leper's jockstrap. Utterly delicious with a good satisfying kick.
