Hunters & Frankau’s Latest House Reserve Launch 

Earlier this month, I travelled down to London for what turned out to be a truly fantastic evening; the launch of the latest Hunters & Frankau House Reserve releases, held at the elegant Coq d’Argent. It was a wonderful event and a great opportunity to catch up with many familiar faces from across the cigar industry.

During the evening, I was lucky enough to enjoy two incredible cigars - a Por Larrañaga 47 and one of the new House Reserve Montecristo. Both were simply outstanding, offering that classic Havana quality and depth you’d expect from these world-renowned names.

The New House Reserve Montecristo - Celebrating 90 Years

To mark the 90th Anniversary of Montecristo, Hunters & Frankau unveiled a very special Aged & Rare House Reserve selection, paying tribute to one of the most iconic cigar brands ever created.

This release includes 135 numbered boxes of each of the four original vitolas that launched Montecristo back in 1935 - the No.2, No.3, No.4, and No.5 - totalling 540 boxes. Each cigar has been perfectly aged for ten years in Hunters & Frankau’s private reserve, ensuring impeccable balance and maturity.

In addition, 100 numbered boxes of the 2012 Montecristo 520 Limited Edition have been released, complete with the distinctive Aged & Rare foot band and presented in beautifully wrapped commemorative boxes made specially for this anniversary.

Series 1790 Collection No.3 – Honouring Por Larrañaga

Alongside the Montecristo tribute, Hunters & Frankau also unveiled the House Reserve Series 1790: Collection No.3, dedicated to Por Larrañaga — the oldest Cuban cigar brand still in production.

Only fifty numbered humidors have been produced by Italian specialists DeART S.r.l., each containing 50 cigars representing the brand’s UK Regional Editions:

• Magníficos (2007)
• Regalias de Londres (2010)
• Sobresalientes (2014)
• Larrañaga 47 (2023)

Each humidor is a work of art, and the cigars inside are a celebration of Por Larrañaga’s long and respected heritage.

The Perfect Pairing: S.T. Dupont Collaboration

To complement the launch, S.T. Dupont partnered with Hunters & Frankau to produce a bespoke cigar cutter and Ligne 2 lighter set, each engraved with the Series 1790 emblem and individually numbered to match its humidor. The cutter ingeniously folds into a cigar rest, while the lighter offers the brand’s signature “cling” and double flame - perfect for cigars with a generous ring gauge.

A Memorable Evening and Exciting Times Ahead

It was an absolute pleasure to attend this exclusive event and experience these remarkable cigars firsthand. Hunters & Frankau have once again shown their dedication to preserving the finest Havanas and presenting them at their peak.
