Charatan Cigar Event – An Evening of Fine Cigars and Whisky

On 11th September, GQ Tobaccos had the pleasure of co-hosting a very special evening with LDC Cigar Events and Charatan London Cigars at the elegant Pavilion Club, Fulham. Having attended one of Les Deux Canard’s previous gatherings, I knew first-hand the high calibre of their events—so when they invited me to provide the cigars and host a pop-up shop, I jumped at the chance.

Showcasing the New Charatan Range

For this event, we featured two standout cigars from Charatan’s new range, expertly crafted by Tor Imports:

• Colorado Toro – a beautifully balanced smoke to start the evening.
• Maduro Half Churchill – the perfect finale, rich and full of flavour.

This exciting new line-up includes nine SKUs across three sizes—Toro, Robusto, and Half Churchill—available in Colorado, Maduro, and Claro wrappers. The Half Churchill, in particular, has quickly become one of my personal favourites: a satisfying size, brimming with character and excellent value.

Each cigar was perfectly complemented by a curated selection of three Macallan whiskies, creating a luxurious tasting experience. Few pairings are as timeless as a fine cigar and a great single malt, and these combinations truly highlighted the depth of the Charatan blends.

An Evening of Community and Conversation

The night began with a lively champagne reception, followed by a warm welcome from the ever-charismatic Sam Saunders. Guests then lit up and enjoyed an insightful talk from Carlos Zunia of Tor Imports, who shared the fascinating history and development of the Charatan brand.

Despite a touch of British mischief—wind, rain, and even tube strikes—spirits remained high. The camaraderie of the cigar community shone through, proving once again that great cigars and good company make the perfect combination.

Looking Ahead

This Charatan Cigar Event was a true celebration of craftsmanship and friendship. We’re already looking forward to more events in the near future—both hosted and co-hosted—where we can share exceptional cigars and unforgettable experiences.
