Bones is Morgan Pipes' economy line, launched in 2015. Developed from early conversations with the late Chris Chopin, the goal was to offer an affordable pipe that embraced flaws rather than hiding them with putty. Morgan wanted pits and imperfections to be seen as part of the pipe’s unique character.
Working with Italian partners, Chris Morgan discovered tens of thousands of forgotten stummels—originally destined for low-cost, heavily filled pipes—stored in old buildings on the historic Rossi campus in Northern Italy. These were repurposed to create the raw, honest look that defines the Bones line, which has since become one of the brand’s most popular offerings.
