Description
Highgate is McConnell’s take on the old-fashioned coin-cut—one of those blends that rewards patience without demanding ceremony. Each tin holds neat discs of pressed Virginia and Perique, spun around a dark Cavendish core. If you’ve smoked medallion blends before, the cut will feel familiar, though these coins are broader than most—closer to an inch and a half across.

In the tin you’ll get sweet hay, stewed fruit and a touch of toast. Fold-and-stuff for a slower, cooler burn, or rub out a few coins if you want something more immediate; either way it handles well and burns clean so long as you don’t rush it.

The Virginias lead—soft, bready and gently tangy. Perique adds prickle and depth as the bowl warms, never taking over. The Cavendish core smooths the edges without nudging it into aromatic territory—more creamy texture than added flavour.

It’s a quieter coin-cut than many: steady, unhurried, and a shade milder than the likes of Navy Rolls or Escudo, with more toast than pepper. No theatrics—just well-made tobacco, pressed and sliced the traditional way for those who prefer their pipe smoking unbothered and honest.
