Celebrating the Year of the Ox with Dunhill Pipes

GQ Tobaccos are marking the Year of the Ox with a brand new set of Alfred Dunhill pipes.

Specially manufactured for the second year in the new 12-year cycle in the Chinese calendar, the limited edition pipes represent the Chinese Zodiac signs.

What Makes Our New Dunhill Pipes So Unique?

This year's pipe is a classic Billiard shape in Group 3 (3203) in County and Shell Briar finishes with a hand-cut marbled Cumberland and Vulcanite saddle mouthpiece that bear the famous White Spot. Saddle mouthpieces are generally more comfortable when compared to tapered mouthpieces.

Each of our brand new Dunhill pipes are fitted with a 10mm Sterling Silver band engraved with the zodiac sign of the ox. They are also supplied with a specially manufactured ultra-soft Terracotta cow hide leather case which isn't available otherwise.

This edition is limited to just 198 pieces worldwide in the brown Cumberland finish and 198 pieces in the black Shell Briar finish.

All numbers containing the digit '4' have been excluded as this stands for death in various Asian countries. There are actually only 160 pipes per finish being manufactured, with 159 pieces offered for sale. The 1st edition is being kept in the White Spot archive.

The Year of the Ox Explained

The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals that according to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Ox was the first to arrive, but the Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride and just as they arrived it jumped down and landed ahead of the Ox. Thus, the Ox became the second animal.
