Here we have a 10g sample of all of the 11 tobaccos announced for Blend Club 2020. The tobacco for September will not be picked until nearer the time. A great way to sample a wide range of different tobaccos. Tobaccos:

MacBaren HH Bold Kentucky 10g

This is the strongest pipe tobacco among the blends in the Mac Baren range and is not recommended for inexperienced pipe smokers. HH Bold Kentucky contains a high amount of the finest Dark Fired Kentucky from the USA and Africa and is combined with bright Virginias to soften the taste just a bit. Still the taste is of earthiness with just a slight nuance of sweetness as the underlying taste, which comes from the leaf itself and the hot press, which marries the different tobaccos together. Like all the other HH blends this blend has only an absolute minimum of casing and no top flavor at all.

Gawith & Hoggarth Bourbon Flake 10g

The Reunion Series from Gawith & Hoggarth / Samuel Gawith celebrates the reunion of the two companies merging back together. Gas & Hoggarth and Samuel Gawith went their seperate ways back in 1865 recently they merged back together and to celebrate this they have released three new tobaccos. These tobaccos were sampled and tested by many members of UK pipe clubs and tweaked to make them what the consumer demanded. A great range of 3 new tobaccos coming out of Kendal is always something to celebrate.

Bourbon Flake is an aromatic flake made up of Virginias and Black Bourbon.

Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation 1931 10g

The 1931 flake is primarily U.S. burley, U.S. mature Virginias and a little bit of black cavendish. It’s an all-natural blend that offers a dry, natural smoke without additives in terms of flavoring.

Erik Peter, his father, was a larger than life person, full of energy and passion for his craft. His favorite tobacco was the navy flake, and this full-bodied smoke is a perfect example of his passion. It strikes a natural balance in the distinct characteristics of superior burleys and mature Virginias by using a small measure of black cavendish to please true flake lovers.

Robert Lewis Wingfield 10g

In this mixture, fine matured Virginias have been carefully blended. This is a very cool smoke with outstanding taste. The blend was named after Walter Wingfield, the inventor of the original version of lawn tennis and a long time customer of the Robert Lewis shop.

Wingfield packs easily and smokes very easilly. The straight up Virginia style allows the natural flavours to come through. The smoke is light and refreshing with some subtle fruity hints. This tobacco ages stunningly and sticking a few tins away in the cellar is recommended. 

Samuel Gawith Spring Time Flake 10g

Samuel Gawith already produce one of the most popular VaPer (Virginia & Perique) flakes in the UK, St James Flake but this is rivals it beautifully.  Comprised of golden & brown Virginias and a seasoning of Perique aged in old sherry barrels. Light cold pressed, this tobacco break apart with very little ease and ideal for folding into the bowl.

From the tin this has very sweet woody aroma, with hints of grass and a subtle hint of the pungency of perique. The volume of Perique looks reasonably low compared to some VaPer blends, with a few dark streaks through the attractive golden & brown flake.  Once lit the smoke has a strong Virginia flavour, sweetness with some woods and grass and enhanced with gentle spice of the Perique.

By no means the strongest VaPer tobacco out there, but perfect for those warm spring days. Cool and mellow tobacco, with a nice bright and natural flavour profile.

Robert McConell Scottish Cake 10g

Scottish Cake - this ready rubbed flake is a great favorite for young and old. Dark brown in its color the seasoned pieces may directly be tampered into the pipe or even lightly rubbed become to a Honeydew. Produced from a mixture of Eastern Carolina, Kentucky and Middle Belt, that are pressed for several weeks. A very popular tobacco and very slow in its burning.

MacBaren Navy Flake 10g

Mac Baren Navy Flake in a 50g pouch (Previously in a tin) We have found this to be a great alternative to the recently discontinued Player's Navy cut and many customers actually preferring it. A mild flake with rum flavourings.

Samuel Gawith Skiff Mixture 10g

Skiff is one of Samuel Gawiths most popular Oriental mixtures and its easy to see why. Built on a base of mixed, flue cured tobaccos, for a balanced and cool smoke. The addition of steamed Izmir (Turkish) and Latakia gives this blend the distinctly English “Oriental” flavour profile. Many praise this for being a classic “English Blend” and a kin to the highly sought after and missed Balkan Sobrane of yesteryear.

Form the pouch you are greeted with the distinct, slightly fusty aroma of Orientals, with some sweet and grassy notes from the base leaves. The tobacco starts off a little mellow and subdued, but like all good tobaccos should this blend progresses through the bowl and gets richer as you go. While this isn’t exactly a powerhouse of a tobacco, it still carries enough strength and flavour to keep even the most hardened veteran satisfied from match to ash.

Condor Long Cut 10g

Classic OTC/Supermarket blend, packed with Dark firecured Virginias and given a wonderful sweet, lakeland topping. One of the biggest selling tobaccos in the UK.

The lakeland topping is notorious for adding a little ghosting to your pipe and i best tested first in a Cob or Clay, just like St Bruno and other Lakeland from the Gawiths

Peterson 3P's 10g

This excellent plug tobacco comprises selected Virginia leaf from Africa and Brazil blended with Burley leaf from Malawi. The tobaccos are lightly cased before drying and pressing and then are heated and stored for 2 weeks before cutting. The result is a full bodied yet fruity blend, sure to appeal to the experienced pipesmoker.

Rattrays 3 Noggins 10g

A tobacco with all the fragrant properties of 7 Reserve, but a little more full in body
