Good quality flue cured Virginia should be bright and crisp to smoke and Dunhill Flake certainly ticks all the boxes. This luscious Virginia flake is packed full of hay and grassy flavours, with a wonderful slight honeyed wood. If smoke slowly and packed fairly loose this tobacco is a delight to smoke and remains enjoyable to the very end.

To my tastes there is a delicious brightness with this tobacco. Bright tobaccos can sometimes be harsh, but this is very smooth. There is a single dominant flavour. A subtle sweetness, like golden caster sugar or buttery fudge; scents of fresh hay linger. This sweetness dominates the bowl and lasts throughout the smoke.
This was my daily smoke for about two weeks while I was in Spain last September, and it was perfect. Temperatures in the mid-twenties and a gentle breeze. It would be a perfect late spring/ early summer smoke over here in the UK (high summer calls for cigars and cigar leaf blends).
I give it 4 and not 5 stars because after a while the sweetness can get a bit too much, be a bit too cloying. For me a five star flake (i.e. the Sam Gawith line-up) keeps a restraint on its sweetness. But this is certainly still a good, tasty smoke, and those wanting to explore straight virginias would do eel to invest in a tin.

This is one of my favourite tobaccos. The smoke is mild and creamy with notes of grass and hay. An easy smoke regardless of pipe. I enjoyed this back in March in a MM Cob and was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. I can't yet compare it to SG FVF but once I do I'll let you know.
