The history of Pearl starts with Tsubota Seisakusho (company), which was formed back in 1952 by Mr Hiroshi Tsubota in Tokyo. The company invested a lot of time and resources in to the development of cigarette/pipe lighters, cigarette cases and other smoker’s accessories. In 1962 the name changed to Tsubota Pearl, the use of pearl inlays with the early models, saw the company famed for their colourful and elegant designs.
Like their rivals Sarome, Pearl came up with some interesting innovations which saw their products become very popular in Japan. Over the years they have not stopped with development of their products and like Sarome and Corona, Pearl produces some of the most reliable lighters around.
