The story of Cuatro Cinco began in 2013, when Joya de Nicaragua commemorated its 45th anniversary with something truly special. The resulting Cuatro Cinco Edición Limitada was the first cigar in what would become the company's ultra-premium Obras Maestras collection. Crafted using meticulously selected, barrel-aged tobaccos, the original release was limited to just 4,500 boxes, which sold out within weeks.
Although a slightly modified blend would later become the popular Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial, the original limited edition remained a favourite among cigar enthusiasts.
More than a decade later, Cuatro Cinco Secret Cask brings that original blend back to life, combining the same carefully selected tobaccos with an extraordinary ageing process.
At the heart of this release is a secret cask hidden within the Joya de Nicaragua factory. The finest tobaccos are given additional ageing in charred oak barrels previously used to mature exceptional spirits, allowing them to develop remarkable depth, complexity and refinement.
The result is a beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied cigar delivering a rich and sophisticated smoking experience. From the opening draws, the Secret Cask reveals layers of deep tobacco richness, complemented by subtle woody characteristics and a delicate natural sweetness.
As the cigar develops, the influence of the barrel-ageing process becomes increasingly apparent, introducing gentle oak undertones and a rounded, mellow complexity. Each beautifully presented box contains 10 cigars, alongside a special miniature casket holding filler tobaccos that replicate the unique Secret Cask ageing process. This distinctive addition offers a fascinating insight into the craftsmanship behind this extraordinary release.
