Product Description
The Petit Caballeros is the latest addition to the range and a very modern size of Havana. It is 4 3⁄4” (120mm) x 48 ring gauge. This size is known as a Hermoso Especial within the factories of Cuba. This is the same size as the 2017 Punch Limited Edition Regios de Punch.
Jose Lamadrid Piedra, a Spaniard by birth, established the brand in the 1880’s and by the end of the 19th Century had built it into one of the most famous Cuban brands outside of Havana.
Today the brand is remarkable within the Habanos portfolio as it sources all of the filler leaves used to create the blend from the Remedios tobacco growing region of Cuba. This provides the cigars with a distinct, robust, medium to full bodied smoke full of rustic appeal. The brand is also unusual in that it employs the Tripa Corta Totalmente a Mano – short filler totally handmade – technique in making all of its cigars.
Jose L Peidra cigars differ from most of the hand rolled cigars exported from Cuba. While still being hand rolled, the tobacco used to create these cigars are all from short filler (tripa corta, totalmente a mano). The Peidra family moved to Cuba from Spain in the 1880s and settled near the central town of Santa Clara, in the Remedios region. Tobacco has been produced in the area since the 16th Century primarily for the domestic market.
Once the family had established its self in the area, Jose Lamadrid Piedra took over the family business and started rolling cigars. Jose Piedra cigars have a distinct rich and “rustic” taste, characteristic of region. If you are looking for a classic, Cuban country cigar then the Jose L Piedra cigars are must.
