Product Description

The Diplomat offers the higher quality of cob, in an Apple shape. The higher grade corn cob is sealed with plaster and given a smooth and polished finish. Like all the premium corn cobs, the Diplomat is fitted with a hardwood plug on the base. Unlike the pipe makers cement used in the cheaper models, these will last longer thanks to the use of hardwood. Fitted with a thicker stem compared to the amber PVC, which uses the 6mm and can be used without.

Corn cobs have a slightly bad reputation, they are seen as the disposable pipe. A cheap alternative to briar and therefore inferior too, but thats not fair at all. The Missouri Meerschaum pipes are made by hand, using specifically bread corn. The porous husk allows for a dryer smoke, absorbing the moisture and like Clay & Meerschaum smokes very cool. Unlike Briar and other wooden pipes, a carbon cake is not required. The first few smokes have a sweet, nutty taste but after that the pipe holds no background flavours and always gives a pure taste to the tobacco. Many blenders (our self's included) use Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob pipes to sample blends, for the neutral taste.

  1. If you want an update to your Legends 4 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Jul 2014

Now and then I enjoy a cob - outdoors while fishing or sailing (or indoors, in case I want to feel like fishing). In Germany all you can get are the MM Legends. They are okay, although I never understood why people seriously pretend that a cob will smoke as good or even better than a decent briar. The taste of a briar imo is sweeter, more subtle and develops way more beautiful.
Well, surprise, surprise! These hardwood-plugged cobs make a real different. The cob itself is bigger and more dense, a higher grade for sure. And they (I include the other plug-models) smoke better without a doubt! Effortless, cool, easy and with less taste from the pipe itself.
Of course I still prefer a briar. But I grab a cob much more often now.
One bad thing: the craftmanship differs a lot from pipe to pipe. Sometimes the stem fits perfect in the bottom of the pipe, sometimes not. But well, who cares, if you always can smoke down to the very last fibre of tobacco with a cob? I don't. Take your fishing tackle and put one of these in your bag!

  2. Great Little Pipe 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Apr 2014

I'm new to smoking a pipe. So I thought I'd try one of these corn cob pipes after watching some reviews on youtube. As far as taking up smoking a pipe as a hobby goes best decision I made was to get a corn cob, and the Diplomat is great pipe. Fits nice in the hand comfortable a great smoke. last a good 30 minutes or more depending on what tobacco you are smoking. If you are sitting on th efence over these little pipes all I can say is go for it they well worth it.
