New Northern Briars February 2014

We work with a number of pipe makers and Ian Walker of Northern Briars is one of out favorites. This third generation pipe maker has been around pipe making since he was a child. His grandfather and father taught Ian the skills they had honed working for Duncan Brairs. He became a talented silver smith and stem maker, before he mastered working with briar and learning the skills need to make the standard shapes. 

For years Ian has been the UK Retail industries Pipe Repair man. While always produced a range of classic deigns, not only made to the highest standard, but also using the finest briar.

For our second batch of Ians pipes, we just had to get something different. The Sea Urchin pipe generated a lot of interest and was snapped up quickly, but we opted for his new "freehand". The Sea Shell, a beautiful natural finish to a exaggerated squat  Dublin with a carved sea shell on the underside. A great and unique piece which will be produced more frequently from now on.
